  • A Letter from the Orlando Sentinel Family Fund

    Dear CFCFSMS,

2013 has been a gratifying year of helping our friends and neighbors in Central Florida - because of you and your support of the Orlando Sentinel Family Fund!

With your generosity and matching funds by the McCormick Foundation, 30 grants totaling $821,000 were invested in the important work of local nonprofit organizations. These organizations strengthen and improve the lives of those in need with programs that:

    ·         Offer shelter and transitional housing for the homeless

    ·         Teach children to read, giving them a well-rounded education

    ·         Ensure safe havens for children and families suffering from domestic abuse

    ·         Provide steady access to meals and food supplies for the hungry

But it is the lives we are improving that truly makes our work rewarding. We’ve shared their stories with you over the course of the year. Together we are helping people like…

Teresa, a mother of three, whose life "spiraled out of control" till she found refuge and guidance at the Salvation Army. Now she has a new outlook, awaiting certification to start a career in phlebotomy and eager to take back the reins of her life.

With all we’ve accomplished though this year - there is more that needs to be done to help those less fortunate.

There are still families in crisis, underserved youth and teens eager to learn, food banks with shelves to stock to feed the hungry and the homeless seeking shelter.

As we come to the end of the year, whether you’ve already given or not, we hope you’ll make a year-end donation to the Family Fund. Only with your continued support can we strengthen and improve the lives of those in need across Central Florida – thank you.

All the best to you and yours throughout the New Year,

    Lisa Jacobsen
    Charitable Giving and Communications Manager
Orlando Sentinel Family Fund & Orlando Sentinel

Remember, a donation now can be claimed on your 2013 tax filings - will earn the 50% match and 100% of your gift is granted. Please make a year-end gift to the Orlando Sentinel Family Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund. Thank you for your kindness.
